Types Of Paint FINISHES

Matte/Flat Paint: Matte or flat paint is used for a non-reflective and smooth finish. It’s perfect for drywall, ceilings, and new construction. It requires less coats and can be easily cleaned.

Eggshell Paint: One of the most popular types of paint, used for a soft and low sheen finish. Eggshell paint is great for hallways and living rooms and it does well to resist stains and scuffs.

Satin Paint: A great universal paint option for both indoor and outdoor use. Satin paint provides a soft sheen with a pearl-like finish. Most rooms throughout the house would work well with a satin paint.

Semi-Gloss Paint: A more reflective paint option that gives your room a sleek and shiny appearance which can brighten up a room. It works great for kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms as it is highly moisture resistant. 

High-Gloss Paint: The most reflective type of paint to choose from. It’s a popular choice for cabinets, doors, and trim. High gloss paints require several coats but will offer exceptional glass-like results.

From the professionalism in quoting and initial consultation, to the dedication and care taken while working on the property they exceeded all expectations. M&R painting is by far the best painting company in Ottawa. The painters are very meticulous, neat and organize. All furniture and items in the house were covered to not be damage. Mussa and team have very good customer service. Mussa came to visit and check on his teams work a couples times a day and always ensured we were happy with the work and service. This painting company is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you want your paint job done right!

Wow MR painting is incredible. They have the best prices and services in town! Totally professional and reliable. I collected a few quotes. Not only did they beat the prices of their competitors, they also provided unheard of service. I'm texting and calling them at 11pm and they are responding. We are so happy, we had the exterior of our house painted and we feel like we have a brand new house. That is saying alot in this market!!! They even saved my dog from running away!!!

paint Selection FAQs

You should expect to pay $15-$30 on average for a gallon of paint. The type of finish will determine the cost, with flat paint typically being the cheapest type of paint.
Eggshell or Satin Paint. Both types of paint offer a low-reflective finish that hides imperfections. They can easily be washed, are durable, and also have a slight gloss for a great looking finish.
Flat paint or Eggshell paint or the most common options for interior walls. Semi-gloss is the best option for trim, doors, and cabinets.

Based on reflectiveness, from the least reflective to the most reflective, the types of paint finishes are: Matte/Flat, Eggshell, Satin, Semi-Gloss, & High-Gloss.
